La vida no sería lo mismo sin los dulces.
Hay muchas recetas, muchas repeticiones, muchas variaciones de un mismo plato, y otras muchas que surgen de la imaginación de cocineros que terminan concretando nuevos sabores, y transformándose en creaciones fulgurantes.
Tras una variación de una tarta americana, y utilizando una línea de trabajo propia, apareció ésta tarta en Inglaterra a manos de Ian Dowding y Nigel Mackenzie. En el años 1972 adaptaron el postre americano "Blums Coffe Toffe Pies" y de su variación nació el Banoffee Pie.
El Banoffee Pie, es un dulce que lleva una base de hojaldre o de galletas trituradas, dulce de leche, plátanos y nata montada. Se suele adornar con chocolate, bien puede ser rallado o en virutas....
Los ingleses no tienen mucha cultura gastronómica, pero sí que tienen buenas recetas de postre.
Al parecer en la década de los 70, después de hacerse muy famosa y comercializarse en muchos grandes restaurantes, los ingleses y los americanos se disputaron la procedencia de la receta original , pero al final quedó demostrado que el origen era inglés. Su nombre, Banoffee, es la unión de algunos de sus ingredientes: banana y toffee.
Para empezar a hacer el banoffee, hay que hacer una base con galletas trituradas y mezcladas con mantequilla. Se presionan sobre la base que vayamos a utilizar y se ponen al horno unos diez minutos hasta que se tueste un poco y quede bien compacta.
Si no tenemos dulce de leche, lo hacemos en poco tiempo y queda un resultado magnífico.
Sobre ésta vertemos leche condensada, y vamos moviendo hasta conseguir el aspecto de una crema.
Sobre la base de galletas, vertemos el dulce de leche casero, y así tendremos nuestra primera capa. Yo he dejado que se enfríe un poco para que vaya cogiendo cuerpo, y extenderla mejor sobre la base que había sacado del horno.
Sobre el dulce de leche, ponemos una capa de plátanos. Los cortamos en láminas y cubrimos con los plátanos la capa de dulce de leche.
Sobre la base de plátanos, ponemos la nata montada, cubriéndolo todo, ya que ésta será nuestra última capa antes de decorarla.
Cortamos virutas de chocolate negro. El contraste del dulce de leche con el plátano y el chocolate, será una combinación inquietante, dejando en el paladar sensaciones únicas.
Cuando tengamos la nata cubriendo el plátano, decoraremos con las virutas y ponemos al frío durante un par de horas. Luego podremos servirla.
